The Malm Hospital in Jakobstad

Purpose

The Foundation supports higher education, popular education, institutions for public welfare, and research by awarding grants to individuals, working groups, or organizations. Foreign citizens are also eligible.

In even-numbered years (e.g. 2026, 2028, 2030 etc.) the stipends are granted for scientific research, in odd-numbered years (e.g. 2027, 2029, 2031 etc.) for higher education and the common good.

General Guidelines for 2026

In 2026, EUR 1 million will be awarded for research and science. The grants are intended for individuals who have completed at least a Master’s degree or equivalent. Working grants are awarded for a maximum period of six months. A six-month grant amounts to approximately EUR 13,000 for doctoral researchers and EUR 15,000 for postdoctoral researchers; shorter working grants are proportionally smaller. Research grants must always be applied for personally.

The application period is 1–30 April, 2026.

A list of awarded grants will be published on the foundation’s website on 1 July 2026. Grant recipients will be notified by email. No advance information will be given regarding the funding decisions.
