The Malm Hospital in Jakobstad

Purpose

The Foundation supports higher education, institutions or projects serving the common good, and scientific research, by granting stipends to individuals, work groups or organisations. Foreign citizens are also eligible.

In even-numbered years (e.g. 2024, 2026, 2028 etc.) the stipends are granted for scientific research, in odd-numbered years (e.g. 2025, 2027, 2029 etc.) for higher education and the common good.

General instructions for 2024

In 2024, a total sum of 1 million euros will be granted for scientific research. Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree or other academic degree on a corresponding level. Stipends to be used as personal salary are granted for six months. Shorter stipends are provided only for exceptional reasons. Funds may also be granted for other purposes, such as conference attendances and collection of data. A half-year stipend is 13 000 euros for doctoral students and 15 000 euros for postdoctoral workers, while shorter working grants are proportionally smaller. Research grants must be applied for individually.

It is strongly recommended that applicants name 1-3 persons as references, including their e-mail addresses, to whom the application system will automatically send requests for recommendations.

A list of the stipends granted will be published on the Foundation’s web page on July 1st, 2024. Recipients will then also be informed by email. No advance notice on the funding decisions will be given.
